Transforming Energy Efficiency in Government Healthcare Facilities

Achieving 600kAED in cost savings annually

Background Story

A government entity overseeing healthcare facilities sought to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability across its portfolio. To achieve this, Ark Energy supported the development of the Energy Efficiency Project to identify and implement energy conservation measures (ECMs) followed by a third-party M&V audit.

Problems

  • High energy consumption across critical systems, impacts operational costs
  • A need for improved system efficiency and optimized energy performance
  • Aging equipment requiring modernization to enhance reliability and extend lifespan
  • The necessity for digital transformation and centralized monitoring for better energy management

Main Objective

  • Reduce the facility’s total energy consumption and operational costs

  • Implement effective Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) for improved efficiency

  • Enhance asset performance while ensuring regulatory compliance

  • Leverage digital monitoring for ongoing performance optimization

  • Reduce carbon footprint and support sustainability initiatives

Approach

Ark Energy supported developing the energy efficiency project from tendering, auditing, and contracting to implementation. The project focused on:

  1. Chiller Plant Upgrade and Optimization

  2. AHU Replacements for clean room applications

  3. Complete upgrade of MEP Systems

  4. BMS AMC - Optimization through monitoring of operational efficiency

Results

The results that were generated from the project include the following:

  • Cost Savings: 600,000 AED per year
  • Payback: 2.0 years
  • Enhanced Equipment Performance & Longevity
  • Improved Operational Transparency through Digitalization
