Ark Energy (www.arkenergy.ae and YouTube Video) is a leading AI-first Energy Efficiency, Digitalization, and Decarbonization Advisory firm that consults clients to reduce their energy costs and decarbonize to net zero through a holistic approach to project development, funding, execution followed by digital measurement and verification of energy savings. We deploy extensive AI innovation to automate our clients’ energy management workflows end-to-end, including a suite of advanced AI and digital toolkits that support energy analytics, Low Delta-T Rehabilitation, data capture and cleansing, energy reporting, M&V audit, and our flagship digital energy management information system (www.arkEMIS.io or YouTube Video).

We are seeking a practical and technically strong Site Engineer to support our energy consulting and project implementation activities on a project-by-project basis. The role is field-oriented and involves conducting technical site visits, energy audit inspections, HVAC system assessments, material inspections, installation verification, and commissioning support for energy efficiency retrofit projects and chilled water systems.

The selected engineer will work closely with Ark Energy consultants and project managers to perform site inspections, validate technical compliance, document findings, and support implementation quality assurance activities.

Core Responsibilities

Energy Audits & Technical Assessments

  • Conduct Walk-Through Audits (WTA) for commercial, residential, hospitality, and district cooling-connected facilities

  • Inspect and assess HVAC systems including chillers, pumps, AHUs, FAHUs, FCUs, cooling towers, valves, piping systems, control panels, BMS field devices and sensors, and ventilation systems

  • Support Delta-T investigations and identify operational or design issues causing low Delta-T syndrome

  • Perform site verification of operating conditions, equipment status, BMS control sequences and setpoints, and system functionality

  • Capture field observations, measurements, photos, equipment nameplate data, BMS/SCADA screenshots and trend data, and operational findings

  • Support data validation activities related to energy audits, M&V, and engineering assessments

BMS, SCADA, Control Panels & IoT Instrumentation

  • Survey and assess existing BMS/BAS and SCADA systems, including controllers, DDC panels, field devices, network architecture, and integration gateways

  • Review and verify control sequences, setpoints, schedules, interlocks, and alarm configurations for chillers, pumps, AHUs, FAHUs, FCUs, cooling towers, and control valves

  • Extract and validate BMS/SCADA trend logs, historian data, and alarm records to support energy audits, Delta-T investigations, and M&V baselines

  • Inspect electrical and control panels (MCC, starter, VFD, and DDC panels) against approved drawings, wiring schedules, labelling, earthing, and safety requirements

  • Verify field instrumentation and IoT sensors – temperature, pressure, differential pressure, flow, humidity, CO₂, occupancy, power and BTU meters – for correct location, installation, wiring, and calibration

  • Support the installation, positioning, and commissioning of wireless IoT sensors, data loggers, and gateways for arkEMIS and other energy monitoring and submetering deployments

  • Carry out point-to-point testing and I/O verification between field devices, control panels, and the BMS/SCADA front end, and check graphics, tags, and point naming against the approved points list

  • Identify gaps in metering and monitoring coverage and recommend additional sensors, meters, or BMS/SCADA points required for energy management, control optimisation, and M&V

  • Support troubleshooting of controls-related faults such as failed or drifting sensors, manual overrides, stuck actuators, and BACnet/Modbus communication losses

Implementation Supervision & QA/QC

  • Attend site inspections for Material Inspection Requests (MIRs), Work Inspection Requests (WIRs), and Testing & Commissioning inspections

  • Verify delivered materials against approved material submittals, specifications, datasheets, and approved shop drawings

  • Inspect installation works related to HVAC retrofit projects including chillers, pumps, valves, piping, coils, VFDs, control and DDC panels, BMS controllers, field sensors, IoT devices, BTU meters, and associated systems

  • Verify workmanship quality and compliance with approved method statements and project specifications

  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning inspections for chilled water systems and HVAC equipment

  • Inspect control panel assembly, wiring, terminations, labelling, and IP rating prior to energisation, and verify VFD and starter panel parameters against approved settings

  • Verify IoT sensor and metering installations for mounting location, immersion depth, wiring, communication, and successful data transmission to the gateway or monitoring platform

  • Witness point-to-point testing, loop checks, sensor calibration, and BMS/SCADA integration testing during pre-commissioning and commissioning

  • Highlight technical deviations, installation deficiencies, or non-compliance issues during implementation

  • Coordinate with ESCOs, contractors, OEMs, facility teams, and Ark Energy consultants during inspections

Technical Reporting & Documentation

  • Fill and submit site inspection checklists, MIR/WIR comments, audit forms, and technical observations

  • Prepare concise site visit reports with supporting photos and findings

  • Maintain organized documentation and inspection records

  • Compile BMS/SCADA trend exports, sensor logs, and IoT data extracts into the required formats for consultant analysis and reporting

  • Maintain up-to-date points lists, sensor and meter registers, and controls inspection records for each project

  • Provide timely technical feedback following site visits and inspections

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline

  • Minimum 5 years of practical site experience in HVAC systems, chilled water systems, district cooling, BMS/controls, or MEP projects

  • Good understanding of central chilled water plants, HVAC controls, pumps, cooling towers, valves, control panels, instrumentation, and energy efficiency systems

  • Experience in site inspections, QA/QC, commissioning, or implementation supervision

  • Ability to review technical submittals, datasheets, shop drawings, control philosophies, points lists, and panel wiring diagrams

  • Familiarity with energy audits, HVAC troubleshooting, or Delta-T investigations is preferred

  • Good practical understanding of HVAC installation and commissioning processes

  • Hands-on experience with BMS/BAS and SCADA systems – navigating the front end, reading and exporting trend logs, reviewing alarms, and checking setpoints, schedules, and control sequences

  • Working knowledge of electrical and control panels, including MCC, starter, VFD, and DDC panels, control wiring, terminations, and I/O modules

  • Practical experience with field instrumentation and IoT sensors – temperature, pressure, flow, humidity, CO₂, occupancy, power and BTU meters – covering installation, wiring, calibration, and data verification

  • Familiarity with open communication protocols and gateways such as BACnet, Modbus, LoRaWAN, MQTT, or KNX, and how field devices integrate into BMS, SCADA, and energy monitoring platforms

  • Ability to work independently during field assignments

  • Strong technical reporting and communication skills

  • Fluent English required; Arabic is a plus

  • UAE driving license
